Wraith (れいす Reisu?) is an enemy that appears in Bubble Memories and Bubble Bobble Plus!.
Biography[]
Appearance[]
Wraiths are ghostly entities closely resembling Maitas, though unlike them, they do not appear to have feet, and mostly travel by floating.
In Bubble Memories, Wraiths have yellow robes that obscure their pace, save for their slanted red eyes. Their hands are covered by their robes, and they carry lanterns, with their bodies ending in a ghostlike tail.
In Bubble Bobble Plus!, Wraiths have purple robes and now have larger, round eyes. Their robes expose their hands, which are flesh-colored, and they wield rods with a pink orb at the tip. Their robes now open at the bottom.
Etymology[]
"Wraith" is an English word referring to a ghost or specter.
Trivia[]
- In the Wraith's original appearance in Bubble Memories, its name is written in katakana, as 「レイス」[1]. However, in Bubble Bobble Plus!, it is written in hiragana, like the rest of the enemies in the game.
- Wraiths, particularly their Bubble Memories incarnation, may be based off of the enemy of the same name from The Fairyland Story, which also appears as an enemy in Rainbow Islands.
